One of the victims of 29/11/1940 has no know grave. His Grandaughter is my other half and I have been trying to conduct some research to see if there are any graves of seamen from the ship that are unknown. I am aware of one possibly two but have not managed to identify the cemetary. My intention is to take a trip over this year with her and leave a wreath on each one. After all there is a chance that it is her Grandfather. It is a very sad family story Ronald had three sons who were abandoned by the mother after Ronalds death and separated at an early age. They were not reunited until very much later, and all three suffered untimely deaths. If anyone can help I would be most grateful Adrian Thompson

Subject:HMS Javelin
When I was a kid I was very impressed with the layout of HMS Javelin she was a favorite. Compared to a Tribal Class destroyer her torpedo armament was much heavier. Years later I learned how HMS Kelly survived serious torpedo damage mostly due to improved construction methods. I also liked the appearance of the 5 Australia N Class destroyers (naturally, being Australian). Well, I just discovered they are all sister ships according to Jane's Fighting Ships. I was amazed at the pictures of the damaged HMS Javelin minus her bow and stern. These are truly great ships. Sadly, now there are not many crew members left, but I would like to hear from anyone. Regards Rod

The HMS Javelin was one of the ships my father served on as a "head-ache" operator during WW2. I have set up a site with his memoires and an excerpt about his time on the HMS Javelin can be found at http://www.worldwar2-memoires.com/royal-navy-hms-javelin-june-1944

I am following up my family tree and came accross this site,a very interesting insite into the ship and it's crew. I found it very sad as my Uncle Frank was killed on the 29th November 1940 on the ship aged 17. Although I never knew my Uncle my Mam has shown me the letters the family received for my Grandma to sign and give permission for my Uncle Frank to join HMS Javelin as he was under 18 and also the telegram to say he was missing in action. Frank trained on HMS Ganges before joining the Javelin. It was very interesting to read what actually happened to the ship as I presumed that the ship had been sunk. Thanks for your information on the website I am going to show my Mam as she was only 6 when her brother was killed.
